Resize for a fixed image slot
Start with the target width and height. Keep the aspect ratio locked for proportional resizing; use contain or cover when an exact frame is required and padding or cropping is acceptable.
Landscape photo example
A 4000 x 3000 photo scaled proportionally to 1200 pixels wide becomes 1200 x 900. A 1200 x 630 social preview has a different ratio, so choose how it should fit before exporting.
Inspect the download
Stretch can distort faces and logos. JPEG cannot preserve transparency; choose PNG or WebP when the source needs a transparent background.
